Educating ethnic minority groups on palliative care

The goal of palliative care is to alleviate suffering and improve the quality of life for patients who are nearing the end of their lives. Unfortunately, there is often a lack of information about palliative care, and communication between healthcare providers and patients can be insufficient. To address this issue, this project creates a culturally adapted health manual on palliative care specifically for South Asian communities. It also provides training to community volunteers who speak ethnic minority languages to help disseminate this translated manual.

This is part of the project ‘Promotion of palliative care and advance directives in the South Asian ethnic minority population of Hong Kong’ led by Prof. Chan Yip Wing Han Carmen (The Nethersole School of Nursing). The project is supported by the Knowledge Transfer Project Fund (KPF22REP21).
